We are investigating territorial defense behavior against intruders at the nesting
site of a breeding pair of Peregrine Falcons.
- One individual was confirmed on the right cliff (likely female, judging by size).
- A Black Kite passed within 100 m above, and the peregrine showed no response.
- A Black Kite passed at less than 50 m overhead; despite the close proximity, no defensive response was observed.
- These observations suggest that the peregrine differentiates between transient overflights and circling behavior indicative of potential intrusion.
- Future observations will examine whether this behavioral distinction changes during the breeding season.
- A single Osprey entered the airspace overhead and circled for approximately 40 seconds; neither peregrine showed any response.

- These observations raise the possibility that peregrines distinguish piscivorous Ospreys from more competitive intruders. Further data will be required to substantiate this hypothesis.
- Both peregrines took off toward the sea, likely in search of prey.
- The female returned carrying a pigeon. Both individuals were back at the site. The hunting trip lasted approximately 8 minutes.

- The male continued feeding for more than 30 minutes. During that time, the other individual appeared to depart for another hunting attempt.
- 11:00 Observation ended.
(Summary)
- Today, I was able to obtain data that I would like to examine further and continue accumulating. By building upon these observations, I hope to approach a deeper understanding of the fundamental nature of peregrine territorial defense behavior.
